Hi everyone,

I've got a BTV box that I'm interested in running Linux (or possibly just playing with WinCE) on. I gather I need a modchip or JTAG interface running to get started.

Having opened up my box and checked the SMP chip it says 0727 Rev B. The wiki doesn't list this exact chip but it seems that the Rev B chips tend to require the JTAG enable line adding.

Exactly how hard is this to do? I am alright with a soldering iron but I can't even see what I'm supposed to be working with. Was looking here:

Alternatively I may just look for a Rev A board on eBay

[edit] Sorry I just realised this really belongs in Hardware - mod feel free to move

the jtag enable problem is not related to the SMP revision.
it is more a PCB layout problem. if the jtag enable pin of the SMP is not wired up on the PCB then you need to
enable it directly on the SMP itself.
